Those who are overworked and rushing around get a chance to have contact with art at unusual hours. Museums, galleries, and cultural institutions offer access to their collections free of charge. However, it is not the only reason why people queue to get in. At Museums Night, apart from permanent exhibitions, one can see special exhibitions, attend various lectures and shows, workshops, concerts and film screenings. The offer is so rich that it is almost impossible to follow. About 40 institutions, galleries and other organisations responsible for the programme including more than 150 events take part. From year to year, also a number of visitors grows and it has reached 70 000. In Poland, Museums Night is held at the weekend, around May 18-th. It is when since 1977 International Museums Day has been celebrated.
